Stella’s got an opinion on everything: the baby (“cannot be trusted near tail”), her humans, the other pets, her sleeping requirements (“But for a truly peaceful rest, be advised: Your bed is best”), undignified doggie sweaters, and the dull dryness of kibble. She even waxes poetic on the exalted status of pups in Paris, who are welcome everywhere…even in restaurants. And thanks to author Linda Ashman, who practically channels the canine mind, Stella expresses it all in a series of humorous verses that will have dog-loving kids laughing out loud. Add Paul Meisel’s fabulous illustrations, which convey every facet of Stella’s winning, wonderful, and wickedly funny personality, and who could resist?

Linda Ashman has written more than 15 books for Young Readers, including Babies on the Go and What Could be Better than This? Stella, Unleashed is based on her own beloved dog, Nicky.

Paul Meisel has illustrated more than 60 books, including Lunch Money and Mooove Over! He has a BA from Wesleyan University, as well as an MFA from Yale, and he studied in the Tyler School of Art in Rome.

"[L]ots of fun...Busy, gleeful pictures extend the comedy of Ashman’s verses, with Stella, alternately naughty and nice, at the center of it all—whether grudgingly accepting the purple veil she must wear to Sister’s tea, straight-arming Pop to forestall a tub bath, or luxuriating in a tummy rub...a sunny, fun-filled canine storytime."--Booklist
