Here’s a fun new approach to discovering the beauty of the night sky and exploring celestial mythology at the same time. By using transparencies to overlay traditional constellation figures onto his photographs of the night sky, renowned astrophotographer P. K. Chen has created an exciting and unusual way to link the brightest stars within each constellation to the legendary figures placed in the sky by the Greek and Roman astronomers of old. Each of the 45 two-page constellation spreads contains three elements: a stunning constellation photograph, a description of the constellation, and a color transparency that overlays the constellation showing the mythological figure and the constellation stick-figure.

IP.K. Chen is a world traveler and astrophotographer who believes that “there’s always something new that I can do.” He has published more than a dozen books including an autobiography (“Peter Pan Under the Starlight ”) and two constellation albums. As a photojournalist, his articles and images have appeared in such publications as the New York Times and Sky & Telescope in the United States and the Temmon Guide in Japan. He often serves as an astronomy instructor at summer camps in Taiwan, and among the children he is known as the “Peter Pan of the Stars.”
