Troy Taylor is the author of nearly three dozen books about ghosts and hauntings in Illinois and across the U.S., including Haunted Illinois, Haunted Chicago, and others. He is also the editor of Ghosts of the Prairie magazine, about our country's many unsolved mysteries.
Along with writing about ghosts and historical hauntings, Taylor has spoken on the subject to well over one thousand groups. He has given hundreds of interviews for radio and television broadcasts about the supernatural and has appeared in a number of documentary films and television shows, and in one feature film about a haunted house.
Born and raised in Illinois, Taylor has long had an affinity for the weird and for "things that go bump in the night." In high school, he hosted Halloween "ghost tours" for his friends, and often searched out the strange people and places that became the basis for his books. Nearly two decades later, he continues to host ghost tours in Decatur, Alton, and Chicago. Troy considers Illinois one of the most haunted states in America.
