J.M. Barrie was born in 1860, the ninth of ten children. After graduating from the University of Edinburgh in 1882, he started working as a journalist. Three years later, he moved to London and began writing best-selling stories, novels, and plays. Peter Pan was first performed as a play in 1904 and later issued as a novel in 1911. It remains Barrie's most enduring work.
